I went to the Mesa County website and looked up our address and looked at the satellite picture.
I went to the State site and looked to see if any sex offenders live in the area we are living now.

Downloadable audio books #14

I downloaded the media center it seemed pretty straight forward. I was unable to get in because it said my password was incorrect?
On overdrive I downloaded a video to my computer and played a few minutes of it.
Both seemed to be pretty easy although I did not have an MP3 player to download may it is more difficult.

Soundsnap

I found a few sounds and downloaded them on my computer they ended up on my desk top??
I am not sure how you could use them in a library unless you found creepy sounds for Halloween.

Novelist

I discovered a few new things in Novelist that I had not noticed before. When I was looking for read a likes you can ( on some books) read the first chapter which I thought was a pretty cool way to see if you even want to read the book.
I have used novelist mostly to find the most current books written by different authors but will probably use it more for read-a-likes.

The book Reporter #11

I liked this website especially the kids and teen section. The kids site had websites of kids books that had games on them such as "Junie B" and "Little House".
Books to movies was also pretty cool.

On biography resource I looked up Nathaniel Philbrick author of "In the heart of the Sea", "Sea of Glory" and "Mayflower". I read all of his books a few years ago when I was going through a Sea story phase.
I only found 1 article on him.

I listened to the tutorial and researched digital cameras. I found out the camera I bought a few months ago was rated very high.

On biography resource I looked up Ina Garten "The Barefoot Contessa" because I like her show on the Food Network. I found only 2 biographies on her.
I found out she has a degree in economics and worked for the White House.
She then bought a Specialty food store called The Barefoot Contessa which she grew from a small store into a big business that included catering.
I have used biography resource frequently and recommend it to many patrons.

This was a lot of fun! I decided to make my website about something I am interested in-
food. I have included 2 of my favorite Barefoot Contessa recipes. I may even add more favorite recipes as I come across them!
It was very easy to create the website the hardest part is trying to decide what to make it about.

Task #8 Creative Commons

I actually had a little more time on this task which made it a lot more enjoyable!
I spent the most time in Jamendo listening to some new artists Allison Crowe (which I really liked) and the Diablo Swing. The image sites were okay and blip tv was pretty good also. I clicked on the Science Commons and thought that was a pretty cool way to share ideas and find out what other people have discovered.

I liked the Boulder County site I found a biography about Charlotte Bronte written by
Elizabeth Gaskill I had not heard of.
The last site would be good to find read a likes.

Task #6

I think the tutorial is a great way to help new employees understand what the Library is all about.

Task #5

whew task #5 done!I think both ways of placing holds in the OPAC are so similar just in reverse order (putting your name and card number first or last)that both work equally well.

I am not really interested in having a face book acct myself but I liked the happiness video on Coca Cola's face book.
